Every marketer knows the power of social media, and how effective it is to expand reach, connect with their audience, and grow businesses.
Last year, we saw a lot of brands and startups being more active on social media and engaging more with their audience.
While it’s impossible to predict how social media marketing will change over the year, we gathered 5 social media trends we should keep our eyes on in 2018;
1. POPULARITY OF INSTAGRAM STORIES:
For brands interested in connecting more with their audience, it will be good to master Instagram Stories, as it is a huge potential for engagement.
2. INCREASE IN INFLUENCER MARKETING:
Social media influencers are increasing daily as brands have discovered the power they possess.
Big companies like UBA, Samsung, UBER, and the rest, make use of social media based influencer marketing strategies to connect with new audiences and improve engagement with existing ones.
More brands will embrace this type of marketing in 2018.
3. HIGH ENGAGEMENT RATES BETWEEN BRANDS AND CUSTOMERS
The connection between brands and customers has never been closer than what we see today. The Sprout Social Q4 2017 Index discovered that 1 in 3 customers would mention a brand while sharing personal accomplishment on social media.
Customers not only love sharing personal issues on social media but also enjoy getting responses from the brands.
Brands have realized the impact of social media engagement and creating lasting relationships instead of just using their social media platforms to advertise their products.
In 2018, it’s going to be about higher engagement rates, good relationships and better communication between brands and customers.
4. INCREASE IN THE USE OF CUSTOMIZABLE CHATBOTS:
Incoming messages from thousands of customers can be overwhelming sometimes. Brands have found an answer, its chatbot.
A chatbot is a computer program which conducts a conversation via auditory or textual methods; designed to convincingly simulate how a human would behave as a conversational partner.
On Facebook Messenger, there are more than 100,000 chatbots in use to gather information, give product guidance and take orders. Chatbots on Facebook Messenger have been shown to increase organizational productivity by up to 3.5 times.
More brands are likely to turn to custom chatbots.
5. SOCIAL CALL-OUT CULTURE:
Brands need to be careful with what they post on social media platforms. The rise of social call-out culture is bringing more responsibility to brand’s social teams. Consumers turn to social media when they feel they’ve been wronged and use their networks as a chance to be heard.
According to the Sprout Social Q3 2017 Index, 81% of consumers agreed social media increased accountability for businesses.
