It was indeed an interesting weekend; from fear of Evans being on the loose to the epic flood in parts of Lagos. Despite all the drama, Creative Studios made it to Techplus 2017, Africa’s largest technology conference and expo gathering.
Techplus is an innovative program that deals with the helping entrepreneurs, content creators and gamers to network, boost and promote their various brands through the application of technological advancement. The conference ran from the 4th to the 8th of July, 2017, at Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
We were glad we made it to the conference and here are three reasons why:
- The Theme: ‘An Intelligent Future: from Connectivity to Digital Immersion’, it was indeed the convergence point for ideas which gave us access to the newest and most thought-provoking trends in the future of technology. All the talks and seminars were focused on the development of a brighter future and a more technologically enabled labor force. We sure took some lessons home.
- Master classes: Experts taught specialized classes and it didn’t matter if you ran a Start-up, SME, or Corporation; there was a class there for you. Although we had a few reservations as to how some of the classes were run, we couldn’t argue with the fact that TechPlus is more than just an unrivalled platform for engagement and collaboration. It is a platform where business gets done, brands get born, and networks grow. The conference brought in giants from various fields of study and allowed for interaction between the speakers and participants.
- Exhibition Hub: The event was an avenue for companies to showcase and exhibit their goods and services. Some of the vendors offered amazing discounts too. The conference wasn’t all work and no play. It was also a Gamer’s heaven as there was a wide array of interesting gaming section like “Call of Duty”, “FIFA”, “Mortal Kombat” etc. The gaming section created a relaxed and exciting atmosphere. It was indeed a well thought out plan.
However, there were a few hitches like asking participants to re-register at the entrance despite having done online registration weeks before. For a tech conference of such magnitude, that’s a total no-no.
All in all, TechPlus 2017 was a good experience. We would definitely do it again if given the opportunity.
In case you were unable to attend the event this year, do not despair! The event is an annual one so plan to attend it next year, but be sure to put on warm clothing as the air conditioning had no chill. Lol.
